The Spanish "Search Report"

In Spain, the request for the Spanish Report on-the-State-of-the-Art (i.e. Spanish Search Report) is compulsory.

The Official Industrial Property Gazette will eventually publish a notice to the effect that, by the time this notice is published, formal examination of the application will be concluded In order to the grant procedure to continue, the Report on-the-state-of-the-art will have to be petitioned, for which there is an unextendible 1-month term from the publication date.

The notice will also warn the applicant that failure to petition such Report, as well as failure to pay the official fee set for the purpose, would mean withdrawal of the application.
